Freecooling technology

The sustainable way of Clima Processor

By ClimaProcessor

Freecooling technology is a method used by Clima Processor to cool spaces by leveraging favorable external climate conditions.

This system utilizes lower outdoor temperatures or natural air currents to dissipate heat generated inside a building or by equipment. In practice, instead of relying entirely on traditional air conditioning systems, which require significant energy consumption, freecooling harnesses the environment’s natural capacity to provide the desired cooling. This approach helps reduce operational costs and environmental impact by limiting electricity usage, especially from compressors, which typically represent the highest energy consumption in HVAC systems.

Freecooling is particularly effective in climates where external temperatures are low enough to meet cooling demands without constant reliance on mechanical air conditioning. Freecooling can also be implemented in chillers through the use of drycoolers. In this case, favorable external conditions are used to fully (or partially) cool the liquid. If the freecooling alone is insufficient to reach the target temperature, the system then uses mechanical cooling to bring the liquid down to the desired level.

The map illustrates the medium temperatures in August for each European country, dividing them in 5 different zones to enhancing how the freecooling mode could save the energy, reducing its consumption up to 83%.

Observing these schemes, it is clearly simple how much Clima Processor cares about sustainability and how this technology can do the difference in terms of environmental protection nd of costs reduction.
